Major Security Breach at Furcadia
On October 3rd, the Furcadia online Furry game was hacked once again by an online terrorist using the username "Uildiar." Users logged in that morning to find a complete list of user information, including personal emails and contacts arriving through the online news channel.
It is recommended that all users change their passwords immediately.
Although this cyber-terrorist has admitted publicly to past attacks on Furcadia, whether or not "Uildiar" has direct connections to the larger anti-furry movement is unclear.

Secret of NIMH - On the big screen again?
It seems, at long last, our favorite Don Bluth characters may soon make a new splash on the big screen. Apparently, director Neil Burger is currently negotiating with Paramount to write a script that will bring Mrs. Brisby and her children back into the spotlight.
It is currently unknown whether or not Paramount intends to have Neil Burger direct the project. The form the project will take is also up for speculation. Hopefully this new NIMH project will live up to fans expectations.

The New Star Trek Film was CRAP!
Here is some of what the actual Trek Fan Reviewers had to say about this sorry excuse for a Star Trek film:
Stand-in-Stan: "I was bored...extremely bored. There is nothing in this film for people to get involved in...There are no people in this film...There is nothing going on in this film...None of the characters have any charm or depth; they're just a bunch of stick figures barking lines at each other. It is [one of] the most bland, generic, terrible things I've ever seen in my life. This movie is just an empty soda can. It's just trash"
Confused Matthew: "There is no plot here...Through most of this film, I actually ended up wishing that I hated it; at least I would have felt something about this thing...[it] was the most bland experience [I've had] watching a Star Trek movie, or even any science fiction movie."
Crazy Otaku: "One thing I would really like to ask the creators of this film is, considering that everything we've seen from these Star Trek characters for the past half century has been of them as adults, what in all the Universe made the creators of this film believe that these characters would be either as important or as interesting as kids? It is just absolutely mind boggling. As a long time Star Trek fan, I found this movie insulting."

Twelve Kingdoms English Novel Release Proceeding Smoothly
Currently, the release of the English version of the Juuni Kokuki Novels is proceeding smoothly throughout the United States despite rumors of overpricing by certain distributors. It is unknown how these rumors began however many Otaku Circles accross the country have begun to investigate. More news to come.
Haibane Renmei and the Seven Deadly Sins
In a theory proposed by Otaku Sempai Seth Weiner and by Wraith on the Haibane Renmei fan website Sekai no Hajimari, the main character Haibane are said to be representations of the Seven Deadly Sins. The sin that each of these Haibane depict thus determines the nature of the trials that each of them must face. According to the theory, the Haibane-Deadly Sin depictions are as follows:
Reki - Pride
Rakka - Gluttony
Nemu - Sloth
Kuu - Envy
Kana - Avarice
Hikari - Lust
Midori - Wrath
Some of these combinations are not outrighly obvious. Hikari, for example, does not represent lust in the way many would initially think. In Weiner's version of this theory, proposed during an Otaku panel discussion of the Haibane Renmei series shortly after it was released, the depiction of lust through Hikari is entirely indirect, accounting for key aspects of her character including her innate clumsiness and mischievious personality. According to Wraith, Hikari's poor impulse control and short temper are also key indicators of Lust.
On the other hand, the representation of Avarice through Kana is much more direct. In Kana's case, avarice is represented, not as love of money, but as love of the mechanical over the spiritual/social. According to Wraith, Kana's trial is to learn how to 'stop and smell the roses.'
Again using Hikari as his prime example, Weiner also goes on to try to use this theory as an indicator to judge the relative length of time it will take for each Haibane to achieve their days of flight. In what he refers to as the 'Hikari Principle,' Weiner states that the length of time it takes for a Haibane to achieve the day of flight is directly relative to how difficult the sin depicted through said Haibane is to overcome. For example, according to Catholic scripture, pride and lust are two of the most difficult sins to overcome. This would explain extraordinary length of time it took Reki to overcome her trial and thus achieve her day of flight. If we apply this principle to Hikari (who is a four year old Haibane at the start of the series), it is plausible to assume that she could continue to remain in Guri for several more years.
Wraith's complete version of the above theory can be found at http://cff.ssw.net/index.htm. It is important to note that this theory, although extremely plausible, is probably not what ABe had in mind.
